ArtHouses:LOCALwifi was an arts project that invited you to connect with a network of WIFI hotspots, hosted by people living in Whitley Bay. Each hotspot presented a different artwork that you could see by going to the location and viewing it on your phone from the street. It was accesed using our LOCALwifi app and people used its in built map to explore Whitley Bay and guide them to the ten LOCALwifi hotspots.

How did LOCALwifi work?
LOCALwifi was designed to be viewed using an app that was available for android and iOS mobile devices.
When people had downloaded the app they could go to Whitley Bay and use the map on the app to find the LOCALwifi hotspots. Once they found a hotspot, people connected their phone to the LOCAL wifi network, in their phone settings and pressed the yellow button in the app to view the artwork hosted on the LOCALwifi hotspot.
